Evolution of Primate Multilevel Social Systems: Proboscis Monkey Society as Complex System

چکیده

Great apes like chimpanzees often provide referential models to understand evolutional trajectories of human behaviour, cognition, morphology and social system as humans shared a common ancestor only \(\sim \)5–7 million years ago (Mya). However, there are other lesser known non-human primates which phylogenetically far humans, but sharing similar traits with in terms system, i.e., multilevel societies. Among primate systems, the society, smaller levels organization aggregate into larger units, is one most complex, though its origins function still poorly understood. Proboscis monkeys (Nasalis larvatus), rare species reported belong odd-nosed colobines, large, sexually dimorphic primarily arboreal species. We will overview what/how society proboscis discuss proximate mechanisms maintaining selective factors underlying their system. Investigation on systems would not insights evolutionary history also possibility develop our understanding how brain encodes spatial position others such complex society.

Females drive primate social evolution.

Within and across species of primates, the number of males in primate groups is correlated with the number of females. This correlation may arise owing to ecological forces operating on females, with subsequent competition among males for access to groups of females. The temporal relationship between changes in male and female group membership remains unexplored in primates and other mammalian ...

The Information Society as a Complex System

We are all very conscious of living through a revolution — one in which the industrial society is being superseded by the information society. Every day brings new evidence of the breakneck pace of the changes that are currently underway. But while broad awareness may be unavoidable, understanding is not so easy. Both the pace of the revolution and its multi-faceted nature make it difficult to ...

Social Networks as a Phenomenon of the Information Society

Social networks, which emerged due to the rapid development of modern telecommunications and information technologies that led to the emergence of the Internet, can be viewed as a phenomenon of the information society. In a short time, there has been both quantitative and qualitative growth of social networks, which have become a common phenomenon in our life and the dominant way of communicati...

Multilevel System as Multigraph

Graph based models of hierarchical systems are usually seen as ‘graph equipped with some refinements’, understood as the (homo)morphisms or (bi)simulations. In such a model it is not possible to consider phenomena happened on different levels of the system. We propose a new formalism of directed multi-graph allowing to see a hierarchical system similar as a formula of second order logic, i.e. t...

Managing Rangeland as a Complex System: How Government Interventions Decouple Social Systems from Ecological Systems

The complexity of natural resource management is increasingly recognized and requires adaptive governance at multiple levels. It is particularly significant to explore the impacts of government interventions on the management practices of local communities and on target social-ecological systems. The Inner Mongolian rangeland was traditionally managed by indigenous people using their own instit...
